Should I become an author?
Since my game development isn't going anywhere right now, and because I keep getting big ideas that would require standard industry budgets to turn into actual games (money which, due to it's high seven-digit figure I don't have), I'm wondering if I should take these neat worlds that exist in my head and commit them to paper. These ideas range from an Evangelion-like dystopia to Tolkienesque high fantasy. It would be nice to have a polished form in which to present these creations to others, and hey, it never hurts to improve one's communication skills.
From what I've heard, fiction writing workshops are generally a waste of money, so I guess that right now the best way to improve my skills as an author would simply to start writing things out and forcing the result on my friends and family. (Given how poor I am at fiction right now, I just hope that doesn't count as crimes against humanity.) It'd be nice to hear what everyone has to say about the idea. It's not likely to bring in much money, but at least I'd finally be entertaining others without resorting to the embarrassing slapstick and humour I currently use.
