The President's New Nerves

I opened up a Toastmasters meeting for the first time as club president last night, and was I nervous! It was a really strange feeling. This hasn't been the first time I've opened up a meeting of Toast IT, but it was the first time in my new officer role. Still, as stressful as it was at the beginning, the experience was exhilarating and fun.

The first meeting of the Toastmasters year, and we already have our first Competent Communicator. And many more to come! I plan to have completed my last three projects by the end of September, and there are a few other club members just as close to their CC awards as well. It's certainly an auspicious start!

I can't wait for next week's meeting. I'm sure that my nervousness will lessen with each passing meeting. Ari, our (now) immediate past president, commented to me on how different it feels to start a meeting as president. This nervous feeling, though, I plan to channel into the drive to really bring in some improvement in the club!
