Canadian DMCA? Please, no way!

Michael Geist reports that a Canadian DMCA might be on its way. Under the watchful eye of the American ambassador, the Conservative government's plan for this session of Parliament was revealed, including that they are to "improve the protection of cultural and intellectual property rights in Canada, including copyright reform."

Unfortunately, the Liberals and Conservatives together hold more than two thirds of the seats in Commons, which means that if they support the government (which, by the way, neither the NDP nor Bloc Québécois do) everything will go on as the Conservatives have planned.

If you are opposed to a Canadian DMCA, and have a Liberal MP, now is the time to call your MP's office in Ottawa and register your discontent. If you have a Conservative MP, you can try the same, but unless you're rich they probably won't listen to you.
