Good resources for learning Flex?

Dear readers, I have been informed that learning Flex might be a good idea, and I do agree with that. However, I don't exactly know where to begin. So if you have any URLs, books, or such that may be useful for me to teach myself how to use Flex (without the use of the Flex Builder IDE), please let me know. Just post a comment.

Finally, I have a new computer!

It's been a year, but I finally have a decent, modern computer once again. I've had it since Tuesday afternoon, actually, but I'm still setting it up, installing various programs, and generally getting ready to put it to actual work.

I still haven't access to my old projects, unfortunately, as the new computer is a laptop and therefore incapable of taking one of my big ole HDDs. I figure if I can rustle up a USB enclosure, though, it won't be a problem any more!

I don't know how, but I survived.

Another year, another Anime North. Thanks to the convention, I had only eight hours of sleep (total) between Wednesday morning and last night when I got home. When I got back, I slept for 13 solid hours.

As usual, the con was a lot of fun! The final numbers aren't out yet, but as Friday felt as busy as a Saturday this year, there were a lot more people attending again. Like last year, I ran the DDR room, this time with the addition of BeatMania IIDX.

Getting Drupal to work again, locally

I've been having a lot of trouble lately, getting Drupal to play nice on my local setup. Both when I was using the old P2, and now with the laptop, whenever I tried to make use of the local Drupal setup (using a copy of the live database) the child process of Apache would crash, with nothing logged by either Apache or PHP.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

If you've played my game from the first TOJam, you will have probably noticed how it gets slower and slower as play progresses. For my first foray into .NET game development, I had developed the most absurd entity management system and relied on the garbage collector to take care of matters.

Big freakin' mistake.

The Internet hates me today.

Twitter is overloaded, Facebook keeps logging me out for site maintenance, and the Pickering Public Library's wireless internet service isn't working the way it is supposed to. I'll be lucky if this article even shows up.

I didn't even get to wrestle the bear that wandered into my neighbourhood this morning.

Finally, Drupal works on the laptop!

After downgrading Apache, installing Xdebug for PHP, clearing the in-database Drupal cache for each test site repeatedly, and dancing in the rain with a dead chicken in nothing but my underwear, I've finally gotten the test sites on the laptop up and running.
