I got an old SLR camera, any suggestions on learning to use it?
My dad and I pulled out his old Praktica SLR camera a week ago, for me to use. We’ve tidied it up, but I’ve not actually started using it yet. I want to actually put that camera to good use. I don’t have the manual any more (years of neglect for the poor little booklet have resulted in its untimely demise) and so I don’t even know what particular make this thing is. The best I can do is this picture of it; perhaps someone can tell me the model and some useful info?
General photography information is great, too. Given that I’m putting Flickr to a lot of use, and want to populate both it and Panoramio with all the shots I can of the area around the cottage, having a camera that actually takes good pictures is a must.
I’ve got a bit of a deadline on this, too. I want to be proficient in the use of this camera within four weeks, tops.
[Edit: Made a mistake, and called Panoramio Photoramio. This screw-up has been corrected. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for flying coldacid airlines.]
