Despite initial setbacks, development continues apace on the Drupal photo publisher

Windows Live Photo Gallery

I’m glad to say that my work on making a Live Photo Gallery plugin for publishing images to Drupal sites is progressing nicely, although I’ve had to do things a bit differently than I originally hoped.

The big difference from my original plans is imgblog.module for Drupal, a lightweight module that provides the start of my own Simple Photo Upload XML-RPC interface. imgblog relies on the Image module, and doesn’t yet support tagging or metadata beyond name, title, and description of images. In a later post, I’ll spell out the lone method of SPU, and what I’d like to add in the future.

With the server-side work more or less complete and stable (tags being the only thing left there), I’ve been focusing on user interface; mainly, making it easy for non-technical people to punch in the info needed for the plugin to start throwing images at a site. Right now, the plugin is hardcoded for the Go-Getters test site, which is why there isn’t any release right now. I plan to publish either this evening or tomorrow. Knowing me, it’ll be available tomorrow. Keep watching, though, as I might get it out today!
