Pro Photo Tools 2!
I don’t know how I missed this, but a couple weeks ago, Microsoft released the second major version of their Pro Photo Tools software, which is what I use for geotagging my pictures. The new version fixes the crashing problems I would occasionally have, especially the one where I would try to tag my photos in “bird’s eye” view. While it’ll be nice if they can get that working, at least getting a message box telling me I can’t do it is better than having an unhandled System.InvalidCastException bring the program down each time.
If and when I get a GPS device, Pro Photo Tools will be even better for me, as it allows users to load a GPS path and peg their photos to points on the path. That would certainly be simpler than trying to hunt for each location manually, as I’m currently forced to do. (Hint: I wouldn’t mind being given such a device this holiday season, one I can use at the cottage, too.)
In other news, it turns out that the Praktica L camera that I received from my dad last month is mechanically dead at the moment, seized and unable to wind film. I’d love to get a quote for getting it repaired, and in fact I sent a request for quote to Commercial Camera Repair on Church St in Toronto, but they unfortunately haven't gotten back to me. I doubt I'll be using the camera any time soon, but I might walk it into CCR some time and see what they say in person.
