I'll start this off by stating that I support the all-but-inevitable Liberal-NDP coalition government. Despite the fact that I've moved away from my old NDP support, or the fact that I'm not comfortable with the leadership prospects of the Liberal party, I think that this coalition will be much better for the country than the ongoing government of Stephen "let's gut the country and democracy" Harper.

Yeah. I totally bombed it. I decided to do NaNoWriMo again this year, got all hyped up for it… And ended November with absolutely zilch. Ugh. The saving grace is that word counts are always in set ℕ, so at least I don't have to worry about going into negatives. (Mathematicians: This is where you chuckle.)

Feel free to use this letter to send to the Governor General.

I have one simple thing to say: Learn how the Westminster system of government works. This is a parliamentary democracy, not direct democracy.

For Saturday and Sunday, I am suspending political coverage of the coalition situation in Canada, due to threats to my power from a coalition of projects needing updates, events I am attending, and housework that I must complete. On Monday coverage will resume, and the first order of business will be telling everyone just what kind of evil kitten-eating cowboy Stephen Harper really is.

If you're reading this blog, you probably know about Last.fm or iLike, two services for sharing what music you listen to, and how much you enjoy it. Some bright folks in Amsterdam have come up with the idea of doing the same thing, but with the applications you use, rather than music. In a nutshell, that's Wakoopa — a service for letting everyone know what software you use, and what you think of it.

Since losing the original source for Alarm Clock and other projects of mine, back when my old computer died horribly, I'd not done anything with the project. After all, who wants to start over, or with a missing history for a project? (Yeah, yeah, I whine too much.)

Following up on yesterday's post, I've just released version 0.9 of Radio Alarm Clock. While there are no new features since the old, old 0.7 release, this new release does provide the new plug-in radio functionality, which means that it'll work on any system that can run Mono 2.0 (although there'll be no radio capability outside of Windows).

While it may sound strange to have a website on the shelves at the local Chapters or Barnes & Noble, the title is more or less true. That's because starting in January, many of the game development articles at GameDev.Net, plus a few new ones, will be showing up in book form, courtesy of Course PTR/Cengage Learning.
