GameDev.Net, soon available at your local bookstore
While it may sound strange to have a website on the shelves at the local Chapters or Barnes & Noble, the title is more or less true. That's because starting in January, many of the game development articles at GameDev.Net, plus a few new ones, will be showing up in book form, courtesy of Course PTR/Cengage Learning.
Drew Sikora, GameDev.Net's executive producer, announced on Wednesday that Business and Production: A GameDev.net Collection is coming out next month, the first in a series of tomes put together by the prodigious collection of articles on GameDev.Net, and will be followed by no less than three more books, covering other various areas related to game development. While the titles of the succeeding books haven't been released, I'm content to imagine them covering programming, art, and audio in turn.
As a fan of the printed word over the projected for anything of value as a reference (it's hard to read something on the screen and program at the same time) I can't wait to see this book appear on shelves. For sure, I'll be picking up a copy. In the meantime, I can't help but drool over the picture of the cover that Drew has helpfully put up on his blog.
