Tweetbacks: Let Twitter host your blog's comments

Drupal

Back on Sunday, Mashable put out a list of predictions on how Twitter would change blogging in 2009. The first prediction in their list was "tweetbacks", or a way of showing tweets that reference a particular blog article. Well, not two days later did someone actually create them. Social media pro Dan Zarrella whipped up a Tweetbacks system that went live on Tuesday, followed by an update on Thursday.

More than that, but Dan also created a Wordpress module so that people with Wordpress blogs could quickly and easily integrate his system with their sites! Well, I decided it would be nice to have something similar for Drupal. Therefore, allow me to present the Tweetbacks module for Drupal. The module provides two blocks, one that shows all the tweets for a particular page, and another showing the hottest pages on your site as determined by tweets.

Right now, not all options provided by Dan's tweetback system are included. However, they will be added shortly. In addition, the module was written against Drupal 5.x but will run without problems on a 6.x site (at least, that's what the Code Review module tells me). Right now I'm handling the piddling little issues of code style, but after my weekend away from the computer I'll have a new release including all options on either Sunday night or Monday morning.

So grab the module and get your site in a twitter!
