Things are finally feeling like they're in motion!

Construction on a building in Kansas City

I'm referring to the social media project I've been working on for the past while. Over the past few weeks, I've only been working in fits and spurts. But yesterday saw the first day of some serious, hardcore development work on the project, as well as making the final choice on name. And this morning, I was struck by inspiration for the logo for the site.

It feels damn good to finally be making progress.

It still feels a little early to start releasing any details about the project, as the code still isn't in any runnable condition. Besides, despite having the domain name, there's still no hosting for it (if you can recommend a good, free host supporting ASP.NET MVC and SQL Server, tell me). But it certainly looks like we could hit alpha, or even a private beta, by mid-March. (So much for my earlier May/June estimate!)

When hosting solidifies, I'll start taking names for beta invites via FriendFeed. I already have a shortlist of people I'll be inviting anyway, and the goal is to have between 50 and 100 people testing (at least, at first). If you're interested in seeing what I'm working on, it'd be best to follow me on FriendFeed and wait for that little magic message asking for volunteers.

Over the next few weeks, expect at least one blog post per week regarding the site's development. And perhaps some tasty tidbits, too, about what you should expect from the service.
