Taskerrific update

Taskerrific

I'm going to be away for most of the weekend, but before I head out, I want to talk a little bit about Taskerrific. I hope to have the service up and in public beta by the start of May, and in the meantime, I'll give occasional updates into the progress of Taskerrific's development.

User profile pageSo far, a lot of the work has gone into user management (making sure people can register and log in, validating email addresses, etc.) but this week I was finally able to begin work on something other than straight-up infrastructure. These developments included  making a somewhat nice, if incredibly spartan, user profile page, as well as an AJAX enabled control for showing (and editing) tasks.

View task pageFunny that for a site that's all about task management, I don't yet have a way to add tasks implemented yet. However, that's the first thing to do on Monday. My AJAX task control isn't yet enabled (the client side works, but the server side has yet to be developed) but this (and a dashboard with ability to instantly add tasks) are at the top of the to-do list for the site (heh).

Profile edit pageI have the Edit Profile page up and mostly working at this point, too. It's quite obviously inspired by FriendFeed's example, most noticeably so with the "Email addresses" section. A couple things don't work yet (I haven't rigged up changing the user name, which might be dropped anyway, and there's still no persistence for public/private profiles).

I still need to add access control for tasks (including task editing), but that comes after being able to add tasks without directly controlling the database. After all, there's no point in having access control for things that can't exist.
